Cadet Sunday - God's Power Through Me

Posted by: Rev. Richard Bodini - January 27, 2013

. This morning we give thanks and celebrate with the Cadets as they take part in our worship service. The theme this year is “God’s Power Through Me” taken from Ephesians 3:7. We are empowered by the Holy Spirit to “make me wholeheartedly willing and ready from now on to live for Him” (Q&A 1, Heidelberg Catechism). Each of us has received gifts from God, what we do with them depends on us. How can you as Cadets and congregation tell others of the gospel of Christ?

Judges Part 2 - The Consequences of Incomplete Action: The Need for a Saviour

Posted by: Rev. Richard Bodini - January 20, 2013

The verses of our text this morning reinforce the brokenness of the children of Israel. This text is almost depressing. The next generation forgets the Lord, who He is and what He has done! They abandon the Lord! Judgment from the Lord comes against Israel! It is HARD! But within the harshness comes a ray of mercy, of deliverance. From out of nowhere mercy is shown to a faithless, rebellious people. As you listen to today’s text, try to hear God’s mercy in the judgment.

Judges Part 1 - The Consequences of Incomplete Action: The Need for a Saviour

Posted by: Rev. Richard Bodini - January 6, 2013

The historical accounts in the book of Judges are some of the most difficult to understand and accept in the Bible. Stories of unmasked violence – emotional, physical, and sexual – are seen throughout. Joshua is the story of the conquest of Canaan. Judges shows the life of Israel in the Promised Land. In the stories we see what happens when people do not follow instructions, when they do not listen and obey. The events of Judges are like a circle, even a clock. Disobedience, foreign oppression, cries of distress, judge, and deliverance. Through the entire story we see the covenant faithfulness of the Lord. His long-suffering patience and love demonstrated to Israel.
