Lord's Day 49, Matthew 7:24-27, Matthew 12:46-50 -- Our Father... Your Will Be Done!
Rev. Richard Bodini - July 3, 2016
The third petition is a reminder and an encouraging guide for us to live into a life that seeks to follow God’s teaching and leading in our lives. To trust and to obey what God says in His Word. What is God’s will for us in our lives? That’s an age old question for all Christians. It’s becoming more difficult to figure out what God’s will for us in a world that is less Christian, or as some say post-Christian, and the way people act it’s almost anti-Christian. Does God’s Word and will have any bearing in how we live and in what we believe? How do we come to know God’s will in this kind of world?
Lord's Day 50, 1 Timothy 6:2b-10, Matthew 6:25-34 -- Our Daily Bread
Rev. Richard Bodini - July 10, 2016
The fourth petition, “Give us this day our daily bread,” moves from “Your” petitions to “our” petitions. The prayer transitions from focusing upon the heavenly Father to our needs upon this earth. For the most part, this petition doesn’t hit us very hard because we have rarely been in want. Maybe our parents or grandparents and maybe a few of us have suffered through want of food or shelter or clothing. Each day we have access to 3 meals, plus snacks. We have an abundance of shelter. Our drawers and closets are bursting with clothing and shoes. We have luxuries all around us.
Matthew 19:16-20:16 -- The Joy of Receiving God's Uneven Justice
Rev. Harry Salomons - July 31, 2016
