Lord's Day 51, Matthew 6:5-15, 18:21-35 -- Forgiven and Free
Rev. Richard Bodini - August 15, 2016
The fifth petition asks God to forgive our debts… as we forgive our debtors. This petition is all about God’s action in Jesus Christ and our action-response to that gift of grace. This petition digs deep into our past, shapes and fashions our present, and prepares us for our future in profound and beautiful ways. This morning’s service helps us to see this.
Lord's Day 52, Ephesians 6:10-20 -- Safe From Temptation
Rev. Richard Bodini - August 21, 2016
We all face temptations. Sometimes they are really challenging. Other times temptations seem to never end. The sixth and final request in The Prayer petitions our heavenly Father to protect us on path filled with temptation and to rescue us from the craft of the Evil One. Our rock solid hope is that the Holy Spirit protects and guides us along the pathway of life.
Lord's Day 32, Luke 17:11-19, 1 Peter 2:4-10 -- Good Work EQUALS Thankful Living
Rev. Richard Bodini - August 28, 2016
This morning we turn to the opening Lord’s Day of the 3rd section of the Catechism. This begins our final series in our look at the Heidelberg Catechism. Our journey this year in the Catechism has been a guide in understanding and living our faith. The rock tower in the front is a reminder of the promises God has made to us and promise we make to follow Him in our personal and our communal living as a church. Today we ask the question “Why should we do good works?” This opens the way into why we are live out the 10 commandments, which is what we’ll be examining from now until Advent.
