Lord's Day 10, Isaiah 43 -- Tsunamis and Salvation

Rev. Richard Bodini - November 6, 2016

Storms happen. Fires occur. Tsunamis strike after an earthquake. Generations come and we celebrate new life. Generations go and we grieve and mourn the death of loved ones. God’s word through Isaiah is powerful. Israel is no more. Judah remains. But they are struggling. The Assyrians are leaving… and the Babylonians are about to drag them into exile… where their parents and grandparents will die in a foreign land. The children and grandchildren will be the only ones to return… in time. Salvation is a gift that we receive. It’s free. It’s for all. You need only to receive it. However, the point of Isaiah 43 is that salvation isn’t easy. Sometimes it comes through a season of life challenges.

Luke 5:17-26 -- Faith...Forgiveness...Healing

Rev. Richard Bodini - November 13, 2016

This morning we look at a Jesus healing story. A story filled with faith, hope, and healing. This story has a twist. The healing begins with the forgiveness of sins followed by “a conversation” with the religious leaders followed by a physical restoration. When we pray for healing, are we praying for physical healing only? What about spiritual healing? Where and how does forgiveness fit in? Is a physical restoration the most important part of healing? This is not easy and straight forward. It is an important conversation to have as we focus on the life of loved ones who are sick and for some who are dying.

Matthew 1:18-25 -- The Faith Story of Joseph

Rev. Dr. Darren Roorda - November 27, 2016

Today is the first Sunday Advent. Advent is an opportunity to practice patience, a time of preparation, and waiting for the Saviour, for Jesus our King to come and renew and restore all things, to swallow up death and sin, and to wipe away every tear. We expectantly wait for this day.
