Isaiah 6; 2 Kings 20:1-11 -- Isaiah's Heaven-Sent Challenging Blessed Call
Rev. Richard Bodini - July 2, 2017
Dreams and visions… the stories of our sleep. Or the nightmares that keep us thinking or worrying. Isaiah has a vision. And a commission from the Lord almighty. It’s not a pleasing calling Isaiah receives. In fact, it’s rather difficult. Almost depressing. But he carries through with receiving it and carrying it… after he opens his mouth and volunteers, “Here am I. Send me!”
Jeremiah 1:4-19 -- Jeremiah Follows God's Equipping Promise
Rev. Richard Bodini - July 9, 2017
Jeremiah was a young man when God calls him to be a prophet, a God’s word speaker. Jeremiah lived this calling out well into his 70’s until his death. Jeremiah is called not just for a moment, but for a lifetime. He is equipped by God to fulfill this calling. God’s promises never forsake him. God’s promises will embrace us forever. “I am with you! I will rescue you!” That’s comforting!
Genesis 22 1-14 -- One Thing You Really Want To Know
Rev. Steven Venhuizen - July 23, 2017
This morning we welcome Pastor Steven Venhuizen to our pulpit. Steven Venhuizen is the co-pastor of Friendship Community Church in Toronto with his wife Ruth. He also shares the position of interim chaplain at York University with his wife Ruth and several students and former students. The rest of his time is anchored by a full-time job with a local produce distribution company.
Obadiah - You Were Like One of ... "Who"?
Rev. Richard Bodini - July 30, 2017
Obadiah is the shortest Old Testament book. His vision/prophecy echoes pieces of Jeremiah 49. Judah has just been attacked by Babylon and is being led into exile. Edom watches… and gloats. Obadiah’s prophecy is not so much to Judah as it is a word of judgment against the proud Edomites who will destroyed. God’s kingdom will triumph.
